We are another day closer to the first game of the season for Ohio State and attention points nowhere but to Frank Beamer and the Virginia Tech Hokies. In a bit of a slow day recruiting wise yesterday, there were no new offers sent out. However, with the start of the season fast approaching, official visits will occur and Ohio State is sure to host many of the nation's best. Never fear, even on the slow days, Ohio State's staff never stops their recruiting efforts.

Ohio State reaching out to LB

With 2017 recruiting restrictions off and college coaches finally able to talk to current high school juniors, it is evident that new names will pop up on the recruiting scene for the Buckeyes. One name that may ring a bell is Santino Marchiol. Marchiol holds an offer from Ohio State, which he picked up this summer, but his name may not be used as much as other 2017 prospects. Santino recently picked up another offer from Stanford and is seeing his recruitment explode as of late. With new offers coming often, watch to see if Ohio State tries to play a bigger role for his services and his name becoming one of the more mentioned ones in the 2017 class. Santino hails from Englewood, Colorado and plays his football at Cherry Creek High School. Currently, ranked as a 4-star prospect, he is a top three player in the state, and the seventeenth overall prospect in the country for his position in the 2017 class according to 247sports.com. With great size, standing at 6-foot-3, 224 pounds, its easy to see why the Buckeyes extended an offer his way this past summer. Currently, things look good for the Buckeyes as the 247sports crystal ball predictions have a 100 percent rate of Marchiol heading to Columbus. We will see how his recruitment plays out, but it's clear the interest is definitely mutual between Santino and Ohio State.

Hansard feeling the love

If there was one position of "need" for Ohio State, it is at the defensive tackle spot. However, Ohio State has extended offers to many of the nation's best at the position. In the 2017 class, one name to mention is Fred Hansard. We had the privilege to talk to Hansard earlier this summer and since then, his recruitment has taken off. Hansard, of Princeton, New Jersey is the number two overall player in the Garden State for 2017 and the seventh overall prospect at his position according to 247sports.com. The 4-star prospect holds offers from Ohio State, Rutgers, Penn State, Miami, and more. His most recent offer came via by way of the Tennessee Volunteers. With so many new offers coming Hansard's way, Ohio State will definitely look to keep the communication lines open with Fred. One thing is for sure, Ohio State's graphic design team is second to none and has many of the 2017 recruits, including Hansard, feeling the love from the Buckeyes. So much in fact, that Hansard used his latest graphic design gift as his personal twitter account avatar. As of now, 247sports Crystal Ball rankings have Hansard ending up at Rutgers, but there is more than enough time for that to change when it is all said and done come signing day in February of 2017.
