Harrison cancels scheduled visits

When it comes to the 2016 recruiting cycle, there are still a handful of prospects that could very well find themselves as a member of the Buckeyes' class. One of those names is Malik Harrison from Walnut Ridge (OH), in Ohio State's backyard.

Harrison, a 6'4, 215-pounder, made his most recent official visit to the Buckeyes' campus last weekend. He was also scheduled to take officials to Michigan State today and Syracuse next weekend. However, that will not be the case as the three-star ATH has cancelled the trips, according to Marc Givler of Rivals.com.

What does that mean? Well first off, it likely means that the future destination for the Columbus native will be Indiana, Ohio State, or Wisconsin. Harrison has made an official visit to each of those three programs. Secondly, it's a safe bet to think that the Buckeyes will be the pick, which Harrison said he will make on National Signing Day, since he called off his upcoming visits right after his visit at Ohio State.

We'll see what happens sooner rather than later, as NSD 2016 is quickly approaching. With that being said, it seems that the Bucks will walk away victorious in this one, as long as the spot is available. The Scarlet and Gray are currently running away in the 247Sports Crystal Ball with 93% of the predictions for Harrison.

Richt visits Bruce

As of late, the buzz around '16 WR Sam Bruce -- a long time Miami (FL) commit -- is that he is going to be a Buckeye when pen hits paper. After Hurricanes coach Mark Richt did not retain assistant Kevin Beard, who Bruce had a great relationship with, it opened the door for Bruce to keep his options open.

On Thursday, Richt made his way down to St. Thomas Aquinas (FL) to visit Bruce. Surely the former Georgia head coach was in the ear of the 5'8, 180-pounder in hopes of keeping him a part of the Miami recruiting class. We'll have to see if the effort will be enough to do just that but for now, the Buckeyes seem to be in the driver's seat for the four-star prospect.

LSU leaps OSU for top spot

On Monday of this week, Ohio State added three huge commitments from '16 QB Dwayne Haskins, '16 LB Keandre Jones, and Binjimen Victor. The outstanding recruiting day would finish with Ohio State jumping LSU and standing at the top of the 2016 recruiting rankings.

However, '16 OT Willie Allen from John Curtis (LA) announced his commitment to the in-state Tigers yesterday and now LSU has overtaken the Bucks for the top spot. Allen is a four-star prospect and finds himself in the Top 150 in the entire class.

The good news is that Ohio State has the opportunity to leap back into No. 1 if they are able to secure a commitment from '16 DT Rashard Lawrence, who will make his decision tomorrow. The bad news is that if they aren't the pick for Lawrence, LSU will be -- and they will increase their lead over the Buckeyes.
