Raekwon McMillan named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week

The junior linebacker notched 16 (!) tackles vs. Michigan.

Hard to believe there was a ridiculous narrative at one point that somehow Raekwon McMillan had regressed or was underachieving, isn’t it?

The junior Ohio State Buckeye (and team captain) cemented himself in Buckeye lore leading OSU with a career-high 16 tackles against arch-rival Michigan. He added a quarterback hurry and a pass deflection for his troubles.

McMillan is a semifinalist for the Butkus Award as well as the Lott IMPACT Trophy. The former goes to the nation's top linebacker each year while the latter is a mix of defensive excellence and off the field accomplishments.

The Big Ten will announce its Defensive Player of the Year as well as individual honors this evening. McMillan will almost assuredly have a shot at some additional accolades before everything’s said and done.
