Besides dominating on the field, Ohio State sophomore defensive end Sam Hubbard’s made a bit of a name for himself in the class room this fall.
After helping anchor the Rushmen and aiding OSU’s efforts to be named co-Big Ten East division champions, Hubbard was honored for the student portion of student athlete and was named a first-team Academic All-American.
Per Ohio State, Hubbard carried a 3.61 GPA while majoring in Finance. He'd twice previously been named Academic All-Big Ten and was also a two-time OSU scholar-athlete.
Hubbard is second on OSU linemen with 41 tackles and four QB hurries. He has seven tackles for a loss to his name along with three sacks. He was honorable mention all-Big Ten for his work on the field to boot.
A year ago, center Jacoby Boren and graduate transfer kicker Jack Willoughby were also first-team Academic All-American honorees.
