The Ohio State Buckeyes 2017 schedule was slated to kickoff on Saturday, September 2 against the Indiana Hoosiers, but today, the school announced that the season-opener would be moved to Thursday, August 31.

A time and TV network was not announced, but the game will be on 97.1 The Fan, per usual. The 2017 opener will be the third season-opener on a Thursday, with the first being in 1997 against Wyoming, and again in 2010 against Marshall. The last time the Buckeyes had a non-Saturday opener was just last season, when the Bucks played Virginia Tech on Labor Day.

The Buckeyes and Hoosiers have played a pair of interesting games the past two seasons, and we may have a third to open next season. It should be noted that Ohio State is 12-0 when opening against Big Ten teams.

The game will be played at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, and will serve as a Buckeyes warmup for when they welcome the Oklahoma Sooners to Columbus on September 9.
