Ohio State vs. Penn State 2016 live game updates: Time, TV schedule, and how to watch

Ohio State looks to advance in the Big Ten Tournament with a win over Penn State.

Joe Maiorana-USA TODAY Sports

The Ohio State Buckeyes will attempt to do two things in their quest for a win against Penn State Thursday night. The first, is keeping their slim NCAA Tournament hopes alive, and a chance to face Michigan State Friday night. The second, is keeping Thad Matta's streak of 20-win seasons alive. Surely the Buckeyes could do it in the NIT, but to make the NCAAs would be sweeter, so we'll stick with that plan.

Penn State comes into this game having lost two of their last three games, the only win coming against Illinois at home. The two losses came against Michigan State in East Lansing, and to Northwestern at home. The Nittany Lions sit at the 139 spot in the KenPom rankings, and will need some magic to advance in the B1G tourney, starting tonight against Ohio State. They will lean heavily on senior forward Brandon Taylor, and sophomore guard Shep Garner.

The only meeting between the two teams came on January 25 in Columbus, where the Buckeyes ran away with a 66-46 victory, which featured a 22-point performance from Keita Bates-Diop. If the Buckeyes are able to put together a similar outing and victory, they should be able to head into a Friday matchup with the Michigan State Spartans with confidence.
