Not only does Adolphus Washington have size, measure 6'3 and 301 lbs, but he also is explosive off the snap, which is why Buffalo has selected Washington in the third round with the 80th pick of the 2016 NFL Draft. After registering just a 5.17 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine, Washington better that number at Ohio State's Pro Day, running a 4.95 40-yard dash. Add in the his length, with a 34 1/2" arm length, and Washington has the measurables which could allow him to make a name for himself in the NFL.

Adolphus Washington came to Ohio State as a five-star defensive end from Taft High School in Cincinnati, but he was also was the Gatorade Basketball Player of the Year in Ohio after he averaged 23.1 points per game and 14.3 rebounds per game during his senior season. Despite seeing limited time during his freshman year in Columbus, Washington still was able to make a little noise, registering three sacks as Ohio State went 12-0 in Urban Meyer's first year as head coach.

After showcasing some of his skills during his freshman year, expectations were high for Washington heading into his sophomore season. Things didn't quite turn out as planned, with Joey Bosa and Noah Spence earning the starting defensive end positions, leaving Washington to again see limited action. In just five starts for Ohio State, Washington recorded just four tackles for loss and two sacks.

The turning point for Washington came prior to his junior season when Ohio State hired Larry Johnson as their new defensive line coach. Washington was moved to the interior of the defensive line where he teamed with Michael Bennett to create a stout middle of the defensive to compliment what Bosa was doing at defensive end. Washington finished the year with 10.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks, as the Buckeyes won the College Football Playoff.

Before his senior season, Washington slid over to the position Bennett had occupied the year before. Washington notched 49 combined tackles, seven tackles for loss, and four sacks in 12 games. The highlight of the season for Washington came against Western Michigan when he intercepted a pass and returned it 20 yards for a touchdowns. There also was a pretty big lowlight for Washington in early December, when he was cited for solicitation and suspended for the Fiesta Bowl.

Since then Washington has been working hard to atone for the lapse in judgment, not only directly answering any questions about the incident at the Senior Bowl, but also doing the same at the NFL Combine. Washington also tried to let his performance on the field speak for itself, as he had a very strong showing while at the Senior Bowl.
