Ruckert to attend FNL

With Ohio State’s Friday Night Light’s quickly approaching, more and more visitors will continue to announce their presence for the annual event at Ohio Stadium and sure enough, on Wednesday a new name popped up.

Tight end Jeremy Ruckert ( Lindenhurst, NY / Lindenhurst Senior), a 6-foot-5, 220-pounder, revealed on his Twitter account that he will make a host of visits throughout the next two weeks and one of those stops will be to Columbus for this months FNL event.

Ruckert is currently graded as a four-star prospect and the 111th overall player in the 2018 recruiting cycle. The Empire State standout is also slotted as the 7th best TE in the country and the second best player from the state of New York.

As things stand now, Ruckert has already received an offer from Ohio State. So, it’s possible that he simple makes the trip just to get a feel for the coaching staff and enjoy the atmosphere that will almost certainly be an impressive one per usual. However, Ruckert could also compete in hopes to show the coaches that he should be the Buckeyes No. 1 TE on the board.

It’s (un)official visiting time!

As Meyer’s staff dishes out an offer, they field unofficial visits from running back T.J. Pledger (West Hills, CA / Chaminade) and cornerback Brendan Radley-Hiles (Calabasas, CA / Calabasas).

Both are ranked at No.7 at their respective positions as well as being top 15 players from the state of California.

On Twitter, both showed Buckeye nation some love.

Even though both Pledger and Radley-Hiles are members of the 2018 class, that didn’t stop Buckeye hypeman (and 2017 class commit) Tate Martell from getting BuckeyeNation amped for their visits.

Buckeye basketball sends out an offer

The men’s basketball program has entered in the sweepstakes for point guard Jahvon Quinerly (Jersey City, NJ / Hudson Catholic). The 6-foot-0, 170-pounder now has 16 offers for his commitment in the 2018 class.

Currently, the Buckeyes have one hard commitment in the 2018 round courtesy of Dane Goodwin (Columbus, OH / Upper Arlington). Getting Quinerly out of the Jersey Area would be huge get. However, the likes of St. John’s, Connecticut, Villanova and Seton Hall are all competing for the top 10 PG’s commitment, according to 247Sports.

As Quinerly’s recruiting process heats up, we’ll have you covered.

An update on Lindsey from the recruiting experts

In yesterday’s edition of State Secrets, you read about 2017 wide receiver Tyjon Lindsey (Corona, CA / Centennial) confirming his attendance for FNL. Now, there is another status update on the 5-foot-9 speedster.

On Wednesday, both Josh Newberg and Brian Stumpf of 247Sports.com predicted that the five-star prospect and Top 5 WR will choose the Scarlet and Gray when it’s all said and done.

Make no mistake, Lindsey is a major target for the Buckeyes at a position of need. Right now, Ohio State has yet to pick up a commitment from any WR in this year’s class but the good news is that two respected recruiting analysts feel that Lindsey will be one to ultimately wind up a Buckeye - at least at this point.

One big key for Ohio State in this battle is 2017 quarterback Tate Martell (Las Vegas, NV / Bishop Gorman). The Buckeye commit was former teammates with Lindsey at Bishop Gorman and is undoubtedly in his ear about joining him in Columbus in hopes of forming a dynamic QB-WR duo for Head Coach Urban Meyer and Ohio State.

If Ohio State can ultimately seal the deal with Lindsey, it would instantly widen the gap for the top recruiting class in the country. Lindsey, as mentioned above is a five-star prospect and the 30th best player in this year’s class.
