Ohio State opens as 28.5-point favorites over Tulsa

But the line is already down to 26 at some books.

Ohio State absolutely clobbered their first opponent of the season, Bowling Green, surpassing even the most optimistic expectations. Their reward after hanging 77 points? Another big spread, as the folks in Las Vegas like the Buckeyes to beat their next opponent, big.

Per VegasInsider, Ohio State opens at a 28.5 point favorite against Tulsa. The site also lists a “Vegas Consensus” line, which is a teensy bit more conservative, at Ohio State -26.

Tulsa had a big opening game of their own, dominating San Jose State, 45-10, so they’ll be heading into the Ohio State game with some confidence. Even though Tulsa runs a similar offense and was projected to be of similar quality to Bowling Green, expecting a margin as vast as last week might be a little ambitious, especially given how young Ohio State remains.

The Buckeyes aren’t the only Big Ten team facing a big line in Week 2. VegasInsider lists Michigan as a 34.5 point favorite over UCF, Wisconsin a 24 point favorite over Akron, and Iowa a 18 point favorite over hated rival, Iowa State.
