Following the news that Ohio State co-offensive coordinator Tim Beck would be joining Tom Herman’s staff at the University of Texas, FOX Sports’ Bruce Feldman is reporting that 49ers quarterback coach Ryan Day is expected to take the same position for the Buckeyes.
BREAKING - Former #49ers QB coach (and ex #BC OC) Ryan Day is expected to join #OhioState’s staff as a coordinator/QB coach.

Ohio State later confirmed the news in a release.
Day most recently served as the quarterbacks coach for the 49ers, having joined Chip Kelly in the trip across the country after serving in the same position with the Philadelphia Eagles. Not only did Day attend the same high school in New Hampshire as Kelly, but he also played quarterback for the University of New Hampshire from 1998-2001 while Kelly was the team’s offensive coordinator.
Along his coaching path, Day served as a graduate assistant under Urban Meyer at the University of Florida in 2005. He remained in the Meyer Coaching Tree when he became the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach under Steve Addazio at Boston College from 2013-2014, before joining Kelly with the Eagles.
Feldman was quick to praise Day. The guy did help build a really effective offense at Boston College, after all:
Ryan Day is a really bright dude. A Chip Kelly protege. GAed for Urban Meyer at #UF in 2005. Helped make Andre Williams a Heisman finalist.
