On Tuesday night, the first batch of College Football Playoff rankings were released. Compared to the AP Poll, there was a considerable amount of movement. But rankings weren’t the only big mover; the betting odds for some of the top teams changed, too.
On Wednesday, Bovada, one of the bigger sportsbooks on the Internet, listed new odds for a handful of the top teams in the country. Compared to Monday, there was a lot of fluidity.
After a big win against then-No.2 Penn State, the Ohio State Buckeyes had 3-to-1 odds of winning the title on Monday. However, their odds dipped a smidge after the releasing of the CFP rankings. Now, as of Wednesday afternoon, the Buckeyes hold 7-to-2 odds of winning the championship.
Even though Alabama isn’t the No. 1 team in the new rankings, they still own the top spot in the eyes of the oddsmakers. The Crimson Tide saw their odds move from from 5-to-7 on Monday, to 6-to-5 on Wednesday.
Georgia, the new No. 1 in the eyes of the playoff committee, saw the largest odds jump. Entering the week, the Bulldogs had an 11-to-1 booking for the championship; now, those odds are much shorter at 5-to-1.
Below is a table with the 10 best teams and their odds to win the natty.
