With the regular season in the rearview mirror, the Ohio State Buckeyes are focused on this Saturday’s Big Ten Championship game against the Wisconsin Badgers, but, on Tuesday night, many OSU fans were interested to see where the Bucks would land in the latest College Football Playoff rankings.
The general consensus from the committee prognosticators is that Alabama’s 26-14 loss to Auburn in the Iron Bowl hurt Ohio State’s chances of making the playoff for the third time in four years. If all of the chips fall in the Buckeyes’ favor, and Ohio State defeats Wisconsin this weekend, it will likely be a very difficult decision between the Buckeyes and ‘Bama as to who gets the fourth spot in the playoffs.
In the penultimate CFP rankings, OSU moved to No. 8. The Alabama Crimson Tide, their likely chief rival for the fourth spot, should things break accordingly, is sitting at fifth.
The top four are No. 1 Clemson, No. 2 Auburn, No. 3 Oklahoma, and No. 4 Wisconsin.
