The Ohio State Buckeyes just earned their biggest win of the year in a miraculous comeback against Penn State. Despite miscues from all sides early, the Buckeyes managed to play a clean game at the end and bring home a gritty win that keeps them in the race for the College Football Playoff.
Speaking of the playoff, Ohio State found itself ranked sixth in the initial poll which came out earlier this week, behind Georgia, Alabama, Notre Dame, Clemson and Oklahoma. It’s not a terrible spot to be in, as the Buckeyes still have time to improve their resume with games remaining against Michigan State, Michigan and, if they win out, the Big Ten West champ.
For the most part, the Buckeyes have been firing on all cylinders, as exemplified for the five-game series between their matchups with Oklahoma and Penn State. Some errors on special teams need to be fixed, and penalties certainly need to get cleaned up, but J.T. Barrett has the offense humming, and Sam Hubbard is proving himself worthy of his potential as a first-round pick come the NFL Draft in the spring.
Iowa, meanwhile, brings a struggling offense along with a consistently good defense that has been able to limit the big play so far this season. Now, with linebacker Josey Jewell returning, the Hawkeyes are fully-loaded on defense.
And while you are watching, especially at the end of the first quarter, send some positive vibes to the kids at the Iowa Children’s Hospital.
