The California native won’t be heading to Columbus after all.

In recruiting, things aren’t over until the prospect signs on the dotted line.

After recently taking official visits to multiple programs this month, a long-time Ohio State verbal pledge won’t be bringing his talents to Columbus after all.

Deciding to put pen to paper with Florida State University during the early signing period, five-star safety Jaiden Woodbey of St. John Bosco (CA), a verbal commit to Urban Meyer, Greg Schiano, and the rest of the Ohio State coaching staff since February of 2017, will now head to the sunshine state and suit up for newly hired head coach Willie Taggart and the Seminoles.

Working hard on the recruiting trail to add depth to the Silver Bullets secondary, Woodbey’s change of heart doesn’t mean the Buckeyes’ cupboards are bare when it comes to 2018 safeties.

With four-star standouts Josh Proctor, Tyreke Johnson, and Marcus Hooker, the younger brother of former OSU and now Indianapolis Colt defensive back Malik Hooker, pegged for Columbus, the Buckeyes are still in more than solid shape when it comes to ball hawks for their future secondary.

The Land-Grant Holy Land team wishes Jaiden Woodbey nothing but the best on and off of the football field at Florida State.
