After winning the 2017 Big Ten Championship over the Wisconsin Badgers in early-December, the Ohio State Buckeyes were omitted from the College Football Playoffs, but they landed a spot in the Cotton Bowl, and will go against the USC Trojans on Dec. 29 at 8:30 p.m. ET.
The Buckeyes and Trojans have a long history — especially during bowl season —, with the overall series favoring USC 13-9-1. The last time the Buckeyes bested the Trojans was in 1974 under legendary head coach Woody Hayes — who coached five of the nine wins against the West Coast team.
Most recently, these teams met back in 2008 and 2009 with both games ending in Buckeye losses. Let’s hope the Urban Meyer era can usher in a new win streak against the Trojans.
