An in-state battle against a MAC squad used to be a nearly annual event for Ohio State football, but such teams are absent from Buckeye schedules over the next few years. But according to a new report, fans hoping for another Buckeye State squad to make a trip to the Horseshoe won’t have to wait too much longer.
According to FBSchedules.com, Ohio State will host Bowling Green on September 5, 2020. The Buckeyes are 5-0 against Bowling Green, with their most recent meeting coming last season, a 77-10...massacre. Four of Ohio State’s five wins over BGSU have come by at least double digits.
The Buckeyes are currently slated to travel to Oregon the following week, leaving one open date for the 2020 non-conference schedule. Since Ohio State has three non-conference games scheduled for 2017, 2018 and 2019, that would be the most recent upcoming open spot. It will probably be another Group of Five caliber opponent.
Ohio State will reportedly pay $1.2 million to BGSU for the game.
