Top 10 CB to be on campus today

When it comes to this year’s recruiting class for the Buckeyes, one highly regarded prospect is already in the fold in five-star safety Jaiden Woodbey of St. John Bosco (CA). Today, Ohio State will have the opportunity to impress yet another elite secondary defender with hopes of bringing him to Columbus as 2018 cornerback Houston Griffith of IMG Academy (FL) will be on campus.

Griffith is a 6-foot-1, 191-pounder who has compiled over 30 offers thus far in the recruiting process. Ohio State faces still competition from schools like Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State, UCLA and USC for the four-star standout from the Sunshine state.

As of now, the 247Sports Crystal Ball currently favors Ohio State at 71 percent. Furthermore, the Buckeyes have been the selection in each of the last four predictions for Griffith. With that being said, one would not expect Griffith to make any sort of pledge on Thursday — as there is still an abundance of time before the 2018 National Signing Day. On the other hand, recruiting always throws craziness our way.

Griffith is currently penciled in as a top 50 prospect as he sits at 47th overall. In addition to that, Griffith is the seventh highest rated cornerback and the eleventh in the state of Florida.

Jefferies, Traore grab OSU offers

To go along with the news of Griffith's Thursday visit to Ohio State, the Buckeyes would also send out two new offers on Wednesday.

One recipient of an offer from Ohio State was '18 defensive tackle Darnell Jefferies of Newton (GA). First thing that may stand out about the 6-foot-4, 280-pounder is that he is only graded as a three-star prospect. What should stand out about Jefferies is his offer sheet.

In this month alone, Jefferies has grabbed offers from Clemson, Kentucky, Maryland, Miami (FL), Notre Dame and Ole Miss. Add that to the fact that Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Oregon, Tennessee and a few others had offered prior to that, and it should tell you all you need to know about Jefferies.

The other offer that went about on Wednesday was to '18 junior college offensive tackle Badara Traore of Asa College (NY).

Traore is a mammoth prospect that stands at 6-foot-8 while weighing over 300 pounds. The Avengers standout offensive lineman has over 25 offers under his belt. Hard to be surprised as Traore is currently graded as the fifth best junior college prospect in the class.

If Ohio State is able to reel in Traore, they would be going a route that they have gone just a few times before since hiring Urban Meyer as Head Coach. wide receiver Corey Smith in 2013, OT Malcolm Pridgeon in 2016, and most recently CB Kendall Sheffield last year are the only three JUCO players to sign on as Buckeyes in the Meyer era.
