It’s been a rough season for the Ohio State Men’s Basketball team, but don’t expect a coaching change upon its conclusion. Per Pat Forde of Yahoo Sports, Head Coach Thad Matta will return for his 14th season on the sidelines in Columbus in 2017-18.
While the Buckeyes posted their worst regular season record of Matta’s tenure at Ohio State (17-14), Forde noted that the speculation on whether he would return had to do with the ongoing back issues that have bothered Matta over the years, rather than the Buckeyes’ record.
The 2016-2017 Buckeyes still have at least one more game left to play, as they face Rutgers in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament on Wednesday night, with an NIT bid likely waiting for them if they aren’t able to make a miraculous run in Washington, D.C.
