The Ohio State spring game could be ‘BOOMing’

A rising athlete will be committing Saturday, while attending the Ohio State spring game.

This weekend the Ohio State football team will show the country what it will be working with this year during the annual spring game. The game has always been one of the biggest recruiting events the school has to offer and this has only increased since the arrival of head coach Urban Meyer.

This year appears to be no different as a rising recruit announced he will be committing the day of the game. Three-star athlete Jermaine Eskridge (Tampa, FL / Jefferson) set his commitment date via Twitter Monday morning and the timing is more than coincidental.

Eskridge had already confirmed he would be on Ohio State’s campus for the game and now we know he will also be committing that same day, making the Buckeyes the clear favorite to gain his services.

The visit will be his first time on campus, but that doesn’t mean he is not familiar with the coaching staff. So much so, he listed the school in his top seven last month along with Alabama, Oregon, Michigan, Penn State, Florida State and Florida.

While the three-star ranking may appear as lower than what Meyer usually targets, Eskridge’s talent was noticed by almost every school. He was given more than 50 scholarship offers, as Ohio State has been competing with the best of the best in the race for Eskridge’s commitment.

And while nothing is official, given the recent update, the Buckeyes have to love where they stand with Eskridge.

Elite OT enjoys Ohio State visit

The Ohio State football program has been hosting an incredible amount of elite prospects in the past few weeks. This past weekend was no different as the Buckeyes had multiple recruits checking out the campus.

It appears the weekend was a success as one of the country’s top prospects walked away more than impressed.

Four-star offensive tackle William Barnes (Apopka, FL / Apopka) took to Twitter Monday afternoon and not only did he say he had an “awesome time” on his Ohio State visit, he also expressed a desire to return to the campus.

Barnes is one of the county’s top offensive line recruits in the 2018 class, ranked as the No. 74 overall prospect in this year’s recruiting class in the 247Sports Composite Rankings and the No. 7 OT.

He currently holds 18 scholarship offers from schools like Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Oregon and Nebraska. With plenty of time left in his recruitment, Florida is seen as the current favorite but Ohio State is hoping to have changed that after this weekend.

While admittedly, it will be difficult to pry Barnes away from ‘The Swamp,’ Urban Meyer is familiar with the state and has made the Buckeyes legitimate contenders for his services.

Ohio State spring game visitor list continues to grow

Like previously mentioned, the Ohio State spring game is this weekend and every year the list of top recruits visiting the game feels like it cannot get better — but then it does.

This year will be no different as some of the country’s top recruits have already announced they will be in attendance for the game, and we learned yesterday that another elite prospect will be in there.

First reported by Jeremy Birmingham of Landof10.com, five-star defensive end Micah Parsons (Harrisburg, PA / Harrisburg) confirmed he will be on Ohio State’s campus this weekend for the game.

Parsons committed to Big Ten foe Penn State in early 2016, but that hasn’t kept him from visiting and talking to other schools. The visit will not be his first time on campus as he was in attendance for the Buckeyes Junior Day camp earlier this year and was in attendance for last year’s game against Michigan.

While he has yet to officially open up his commitment, a third unofficial visit to Ohio State in six months shows there is legitimate interest in the program.
