We are now a week away from Ohio State football kicking off its 2017-18 season at Indiana. To get ready for the start of the season, Fox Sports released hype commercials for all the Big Ten teams.
Michael Kelly, who plays Doug Stamper on House of Cards, narrates the promos. In the OSU promo, Kelly talks about why the Buckeyes don’t put a logo on their helmet. He answers the question with “they rather cover it with your misery,” and highlights flash across the screen as Buckeye defenders apply hard hits on opposing quarterbacks.
The commercial also features a cameo from Urban Meyer, and more highlights of Buckeyes making plays, before an “O-H-I-O” graphic pops up on the screen.
The campaign behind the hype commercials rests on the phrase “Every Game Is Everything.” Wieden + Kennedy’s are the masterminds behind the campaign, and according to AdWeek, a total of 16 promos are set to be created.
AdWeek’s story on the Wieden + Kennedy’s campaign noted that the Ohio State-Michigan game was going to get the hype commercial treatment. Already, 14 of the promos have been released, with each being team specific to a Big Ten school.
