The Ohio State Buckeyes (7-0, 4-0) moved up to No. 2 in the AP Poll after staying unbeaten with a win against Minnesota on Saturday. In that game, quarterback Dwayne Haskins threw for 412 yards and a trio of touchdowns. On Monday, Bovada listed new odds for the Heisman hopeful and national title contender—and it’s good news.
Although Haskins still trails Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa for the top spot on Bovada’s Heisman board, his odds have gotten shorter. Prior to playing Minnesota, the Buckeye signal-caller had 9-to-2 odds of winning the trophy; now, those odds are at 3-to-1, and is tied with Oklahoma’s Kyler Murray for second best. Tagovailoa odds neither went shorter nor longer, as he stayed at a 2-to-3 favorite.
For the team, OSU inched their way to shorter odds in the eyes of the online sportsbook. Ohio State moved from a 15-to-2 favorite on Oct. 8 to a 13-to-2 favorite on Monday. Those odds are good enough for third best, behind only Alabama (5/9) and Clemson (13/2).
In the Big Ten, the Bucks aren’t the only team getting better odds each week. Michigan, who’s coming off of a big home win against Wisconsin, has 12-to-1 to win the title. Iowa also is moving up the boards, but they are a longshot; the Hawkeyes, who are 5-1 this season, have 175-to-1 odds from Bovada.
Losses by both Penn State and Wisconsin sunk their odds. Both the Nittany Lions and Badgers now have 100-to-1 listings. Even though Michigan State defeated PSU, their odds took a dramatic step backwards. The Spartans were at 275-to-1 prior to their recent win, but now rest as an outlandish longshot with 1000-to-1 odds.
Below are the 10 teams with the best chances to win the national title, courtesy of Bovada.
