Ohio State stay at No. 10 in new College Football Playoff rankings

The defending national champion UCF Knights jump the Buckeyes.

NCAA Football: Ohio State at Maryland Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

With just one week left in the regular season, the Ohio State Buckeyes have seen their national profile fall in recent weeks, despite the fact that they haven’t lost in the past month. On Sunday, the Buckeyes fell to No. 10 in both the AP and Coaches Poll. On Tuesday night, the College Football Playoff committee kept the Buckeyes at No. 10, despite the fact that the previously No. 8 West Virginia Mountaineers lost this weekend.

The defending national champion UCF Knights jumped Ohio State to move up from No. 11 to No. 9.

The top six stayed the same with No. 1 Alabama, No. 2 Clemson, No. 3 Notre Dame, No. 4 Michigan, No. 5 Georgia, and No. 6 Oklahoma. Other Big Ten teams in the Top 25 include No. 19 Northwestern and No. 12 Penn State.

The Buckeyes will have a chance to move up when they play their fourth-ranked rivals on Saturday. Should they win the regular-season finale, they will also have a Big Ten Championship matchup about Northwestern the following week. There is no guarantee that should OSU win out that they will be selected for the playoff, as they could need some specifically placed chaos to help them move up into the top four.
