Ohio State basketball jumps to No. 16 in AP Poll, No. 1 in new 2018 NCAA rankings

Wait, No. 1 in what, now?

NCAA Basketball: Ohio State at Cincinnati David Kohl-USA TODAY Sports

The Ohio State Buckeyes men’s basketball team is off to an incredible start to the season, especially considering that they lost four major contributors from last year’s team, including the reigning Big Ten Player of the Year. However, Chris Holtmann has his squad perfect in the early season at 6-0, and following wins last week over Samford (68-50) and Cleveland State (89-62), the basketball Buckeyes have jumped seven spots to No. 16 in the latest AP Poll.

Following their win over previous No. 1 Duke, Gonzaga takes the top spot, followed by Kansas, Duke, Virginia, and Nevada. Other Big Ten teams in the rankings are Michigan at No. 7, Michigan State at No. 9, Iowa at No. 14, Purdue at No. 19, Wisconsin at No. 22, and Maryland at No. 24.

Indiana, Minnesota, and Nebraska also received votes.

While the B1G has seven spots locked up, here’s the rest of the AP Top 25:
