Pair of 2020 teammates gaining momentum towards Ohio State

After a big win on Saturday, Ohio State recruiting its back on the upswing

SB Nation

There is light at the end of the tunnel for this work week, which means it’s time to check in on Ohio State Buckeyes recruiting!

Coming off a huge rivalry game win against Michigan, the Buckeyes are back into the conversation of being an elite team. This bodes well for the near future of recruiting in helping persuade current seniors and juniors to come to Columbus.

It seems only a matter of time before two teammates in the class of 2020 are officially Buckeyes. Mekhail Sherman and Rakim Jarrett of St. John’s College High School in Washington, D.C., are both feeling good about Ohio State after visiting this past weekend.

Jarrett, a four-star wide receiver, hasn’t been shy at all about sharing how he’s felt about Ohio State. During “The Game,” he sent out this tweet:

He’s been tweeting about the Buckeyes a lot since Saturday which is why the talk around him suggests he’ll end up at Ohio State. Sherman, a five-star defensive end, hasn’t been quite as vocal as his teammate but the momentum is still there.

He did, however, say he completed a childhood dream in visiting Ohio State. Even though Jarrett and Sherman are highly touted juniors, don’t be surprised if they make moves in Ohio State’s 2020 class soon.

2019 prospects narrow their list

Jestin Jacobs, an Iowa verbal commit from Clayton, Ohio, visited OSU last week and is supposedly thinking of making the flip. Jacobs is a four-star outside linebacker who didn’t receive an Ohio State offer until three weeks ago.

He has been committed to Iowa since May 11, but you’ll want to keep an eye on his recruitment. The Ohio prospect may end up a Buckeye after all.

Dvon Ellies, another visitor last weekend, is now down to a select group of schools , according to Brian Dohn. The Buckeyes, Penn State Nittany Lions and USC Trojans are seen as the three teams in the mix. Ellies is from Owings Mills, Md. There’s a little more buzz around his name linked with Penn State right now, but there’s a long way to go until National Signing Day.

Zach Harrison hosts in home visits

Prized recruit Zach Harrison still doesn’t seem likely to commit. He has had recent in home visits with Penn State, Michigan and Ohio State.

Ohio State dominating Michigan might make for an interesting wrinkle in Harrison’s recruitment. He very well could be a signing day commitment with the way things are going.

Ohio State offers 2021 standout

Branden Jennings, a linebacker from Jacksonville, Fla., picked up an Ohio State offer this week.

Jennings also has offers from Florida State, Miami (FL), Boston College and Louisville. He attends Sandalwood High School.

The offer came after Jennings was at Ohio State’s game on Saturday on an unofficial visit.

Quick hit

  • Chris Braswell, a five-star defensive end, committed to Alabama on Sunday. Braswell has an offer from Ohio State. He attends St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, MD. The Tide now have 11 members, according to 247sports, in their 2020 class, and are pacing out in front with the No. 1 class in the country. Miami (FL) is currently No. 2, and the Buckeyes are right behind them at No. 3.
