Recruiting is a volatile practice, never more so than when it comes to quarterbacks. Over the past few days, rumors have swirled that the Ohio State Buckeyes could be welcoming in a quarterback transfer, and that seems to have influenced the plans of the team’s four-star commit, Dwan Mathis. The the Belleville, Mich., prospect has decided not to sign with the Buckeyes during the Early Signing Period as originally planned. He now signs to play at Georgia.
Originally, Mathis planned to become a member of the Michigan State Spartans, as he was committed to the school in the early summer, but, as we know, things can change quickly when it comes to recruiting. After making an official visit to OSU on June 22, Mathis switched his pledge to the Buckeyes a few days later.
Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 205 pounds, Mathis held more than a dozen offers. A pro-style QB, 247sports graded him as the ninth best at the position in the class, seventh best player out of Michigan, and the 261st best prospect nationally.
