In this first game week episode of our “Why is this News?” edition of the “Hangout in the Holy Land” podcast, co-hosts Matt Tamanini and Alexis Chassen catch up on all the biggest Buckeye stories that have broken after the Urban Meyer suspension was announced.
They discussed the impact that the scandal had on recruiting as 2019 linebacker decommitted from the Ohio State class over the weekend. However, a number of mothers of current and future Buckeyes spoke out in defense of Urban Meyer.
With the announcement of the 2018 Ohio State captains, Alexis shares her excitement that wide receiver Johnnie Dixon earned the honor, and they talked about what Tuf Borland’s inclusion could mean for his health and the middle linebacker position battle.
Moving away from football, Matt and Alexis talked about the commitment of two-time Ohio Ms. Basketball Kierstan Bell, as well as early season successes for the women’s volleyball, field hockey, and women’s soccer team.
The two also gave their (preliminary) score predictions for this Saturday’s season opener against Oregon State, and discuss whether former West Virginia quarterback Chris Chugunov will end up being Dwayne Haskins’ backup.
