After a 313-yard, five touchdown performance against Oregon State, Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Dwayne Haskins has jumped into the third-best Heisman odds in the country, according to Bovada.
Haskins, who entered the season with 11-to-1 odds, now stands at 6-to-1, and is just behind the two early-season leaders. West Virginia QB Will Grier is above Haskins at 5-to-1 odds, while Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa is leading the pack at 4-to-1 after a tremendous game against Louisville to start the season.
As a team, Ohio State holds 8-to-1 odds of winning the national championship—good enough to be tied with Georgia for the third best shot of winning it all. Those odds, however, are a slight drop from the 15-to-2 odds that they had prior to taking on Oregon State. Going into the Rutgers contest, Bovada has the Buckeyes as a 35.5-point favorite, as of midday Wednesday.
There is a huge gap behind the Buckeyes, as the fifth-best odds belong to Auburn, who comes into Week 2 with 16-to-1 odds.
In addition to the Buckeyes’ signal-caller, two other members of the Scarlet and Gray are on the Heisman odds board. Running back J.K. Dobbins is now at 50-to-1, which is a sizable dip from the 40-to-1 odds he had a week ago. That may be due to Mike Weber having a career-day against the Beavers. Defensive lineman Nick Bosa also saw his odds drop; last week, he was a 125-to-1 candidate to win, now he’s way back at 200-to-1 and is nearly off the Bovada board.
At the top of the title odds are the usual programs. Alabama leads with 7-to-4 odds, Clemson is in second with 9-to-2, and Georgia—like the Bucks—at 8-to-1.
Below is a table of the 10 teams with the best odds heading into Week 2.
