According to his Instagram, Ohio State offensive lineman Branden Bowen underwent surgery on Thursday. The 6-foot-7 redshirt junior had been a starter at right guard for Ohio State last season, but fractured both his fibula and tibia in the second half of the 2017 game against Maryland, ending his season.
According to his social media post, this is the third surgery that the Draper, Utah native has undergone. If the surgery means that Bowen is again out for the year, he likely would be able to receive a medical redshirt, allowing him to retain two years of eligibility with the Buckeyes.

However, this is not the only news that Bowen has shared on social media lately. Earlier this week, he had a happier announcement, that he and his fiancee, Kate Lindsey, were expecting a child due this coming March.
We wish Branden the best of luck with the surgery and impending fatherhood, and hope that he is able to get back on the field soon.
