It’s Friday night, you’re at home playing the new Spider-Man video game on PS4, and you need something to watch on your other TV. Well, there’s only one football game of note on tonight, but it does feature Ohio State’s Week 3 opponent, the No. 16 TCU Horned Frogs, so that seems like a solid plan
The Frogs take on their in-state rivals the SMU Mustangs at 8 p.m. ET. In Week 1, TCU beat Southern 55-7, and SMU fell to North Texas, 46-23, but since the Buckeyes don’t play SMU this year, we’re not going to focus on them.
However, in the season opener, TCU was led by quarterback Shawn Robinson who went 17-24 for 182 yards and three touchdowns before giving way to Michael Collins. From there the offense was almost obscenely balanced with four receivers gaining between 45 and 57 yards through the air, while six rushers ran for more than 20 yards, including three that ran for more than 40.
With numbers as evenly distributed as this, it’s tough to get a feel for who might present the biggest challenge for the Buckeye defense next weekend. So, for game-planning’s sake, let’s hope that SMU forces head coach Gary Patterson into giving the OSU coaching staff a little more insight into what they could be seeing in AT&T Stadium next weekend.
