The Ohio State Buckeyes might have been off this weekend, but there was a major victory nonetheless as four-star cornerback Ryan Watts announced on Sunday that he had committed to play his college football for Ryan Day’s squad. Until Oct. 2, Watts had been committed to the Oklahoma Sooners. But, once that he announced that he would not be heading to Norman, Okla., many assumed that the Texas native was Columbus-bound.

The 6-foot-2.5, 187-pound cornerback is the 19th ranked corner in the 2020 recruiting class, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings, and is the 258th ranked player in the country. Following his decommittment from Oklahoma, Penn State was also considered a potential home for Watts, but he decided to end his re-recruitment before he could take a visit to State College, Pa.
In addition to OU and PSU, Watts also had offers from Alabama, Notre Dame, LSU, Michigan, Texas, and more than two dozen other program.
Jeff Hafley and Tony Alford were the two main recruiters working with Watts for the Buckeyes.
