Not only did the Ohio State Buckeyes taking this past Saturday off hurt them in the AP and Coaches Polls, but apparently it also hurt them in the eyes of SB Nation, as Ohio State dropped a spot from third to fourth during their first off week of the season.
However, the move likely had little to do with the Buckeyes, and more to do with the fact that the LSU Tigers won what could be argued was the biggest game of the season thus far beating the Florida Gators 42-28 in the SEC’s version of Death Valley.
Despite all of the tomfoolery at the top of the SBN FanPulse poll this week, the good, insightful, learned folks of the Land-Grant Holy Land community saw fit to maintain the Buckeyes’ hold on the number one spot in our little corner of the FanPulse kingdom.

Of course, the discrepancy at the top of the LGHL poll is just the beginning of the shakeup in the top five, most notably as Buckeye fans are not buying into what the defending national champion Clemson Tigers have been doing in the NAIA ACC so far this season.

However, the top-25 polls aren’t the only things charted by FanPulse, as every week there are a couple of other questions in the survey. This week, the first question had to do with which player the SB Nation community had as the leader in the race for the Heisman Trophy.
OSU’s Justin Fields was one of the six options, but came in fifth ahead of only Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence. Instead, it was former Buckeye Joe Burrow who had a fairly sizable lead over the field, accounting for more than one-third of the votes.

Finally, throughout the season, the FanPulse survey is asking fans how confident they are in the direction of their team of choice. For the fourth week in a row, and fifth time in the seven weeks of the season, every single person in the LGHL survey said that they were confident in the way that Ryan Day’s program was moving. Seems logical to me.
