Play Like a Girl podcast: Stop saying things like “She actually knows a lot about sports!”

Meredith, Tia, and Kelsey explain how some “compliments” toward women can turn condescending

On LGHL’s podcast Play Like a Girl, we talk all things Ohio State football, and talk to and about women in and around Ohio State athletics and beyond.

In this week’s episode, Tia, Meredith, and Kelsey discuss why phrases like “She ACTUALLY knows a lot about sports” or “Wow, your football knowledge blew me away!” and other comments women working in the sports industry often receive might sound like compliments, but are actually just insulting, patronizing, and never said to men.

They also discuss some positive news for Title IX and women’s soccer around the world, as well as what the Ohio State Buckeyes women’s teams are up to.
