Ohio State opens as 43-point favorite over Maryland

The Buckeyes are 7-0 against the spread since Week 1, can they cover the 43 to make it 8-0?

Yes, the No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes (8-0, 5-0) were off this past weekend, and while they will never admit it, they are basically going to be off the next two weekends as well. With dates against the No. 5 Penn State Nittany Lions (8-0, 5-0) and No. 14 Michigan Wolverines (7-2, 4-2) waiting at the end of the month, the Buckeyes will next take on the Maryland Terrapins (3-6, 1-5) and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (2-7, 0-6).

Of course, the Buckeye coaches and players are going to say and do all of the right things not to disrespect an opponent, or to overlook them making the best team in the Big Ten susceptible to another unnecessary historic upset, but for us fans, we are allowed to laugh at what these blowouts will be.

Over the weekend, BetOnline.ag released their opening lines for the upcoming Week 11 games, and OSU has the largest spread of the week by far as 43-point favorites against the Terps. Army is a 36.5-point favorite over UMass, and the Cincinnati Bearcats are favored by 36 over UConn, but those are the closest games in terms of the opening lines.

The Clemson Tigers will head to Raleigh, N.C. to play N.C. State as 32-point favorites, and Ole Miss will host New Mexico State favored by 30.

After failing to cover in their season-opening win over Florida Atlantic, the Buckeyes have gone 7-0 against the spread ever since as the oddsmakers feverishly tried to figure out a line that OSU couldn’t crush. It hasn’t happened since Week 1, and unless head coach Ryan Day pulls the starters following the first quarter, I’m not so sure it will happen this week either.
