On LGHL’s Outside the Shoe podcast, we talk all things Ohio State athletics that happen outside the confines of the Horseshoe.
In today’s episode, with the Big Ten football championship just around the corner, Meredith recaps all of Ohio State’s conference champions from the last year outside of football. Hint: There’s a lot.
From dominant wins from perennial powers, like women’s golf and men’s tennis, to surprising underdog victories like this year’s baseball squad, to sports that don’t even yet have a Big Ten league to compete in, Ohio State has brought home individual and team conference championships across eight different sports. This year also marked a year of firsts for some sports, like men’s ice hockey, which brought home its first Big Ten regular season title.
Many of these squads went on to perform exceedingly well in their respective NCAA championships with some, like gymnast Alec Yoder, bringing home gold once again on the national stage.
