It appears that reports of Ohio State’s recruiting dominance leaving the program with Urban Meyer were overblown. After a stellar opening month that saw several huge recruiting wins for new head man Ryan Day, the Buckeyes may have gotten their biggest win yet, as 2021 Pickerington North defensive end Jack Sawyer committed to the Buckeyes.
COMMITTED! So excited to be a Buckeye! #GoBucks #BuckeyeNation pic.twitter.com/s48Y0zSrVj

While Ohio State was always considered a favorite for the local five-star, 2021 is quite a ways out, and it was expected that this recruitment could go on for awhile. Michigan and Notre Dame were pushing hard, but following Sawyer’s visit to Ohio State this weekend, it looks like Ryan Day and the new look defensive staff have closed the doors to any and all possible intruders into the state.
Sawyer, ranked as the third best player in the 2021 class by 247Sports, could end up being one of Ohio State’s highest composite rating commits ever by the time the final rankings for his class come out. Sawyer is an excellent athlete, and spent his first two years of high school dominating on pure strength, speed and natural ability.
With two more years of growth to go before he gets on campus, Jack Sawyer could very well be the next great Ohio State defensive end, and it’s a huge deal for the Buckeyes to get him in the fold this early.
Land Grant Holy-Land will have more on this huge commitment soon. You can watch Sawyer’s impressive highlights below.
