The Ohio State women’s basketball team will have another home game this season. Announced late Monday evening, the Buckeyes will participate in the Women’s NIT and will host Morehead State on Wednesday. Tip-off time is still TBA.

Head-to-head, this will be the third meeting between Ohio State and Morehead State. The Buckeyes have won both previous meetings, however, they occurred in 1982 and 1983, respectively. This season, Morehead State is 23-10 overall, holding a 9-6 record in road contests.

After a 14-14 campaign in 2018-19, the Buckeyes got into the WNIT automatically by being the highest seeded Big Ten team to not qualify for the NCAA Tournament. OSU was the No. 5 seeded team in the conference tournament, and lost in the Second Round to No. 13 seed Wisconsin. Maryland, Iowa, Rutgers and Michigan were the four B1G seeds in front of the Buckeyes that punched their ticket to the Big Dance.

Minnesota and Northwestern join Ohio State as the three Big Ten schools in the WNIT.

This is OSU’s second appearance in the WNIT; the first was in 2001, where they ended up winning the whole thing. The last two postseason WNITs featured Big Ten schools winning the title. Last season was Indiana, and in 2017, Michigan won.

Here’s hoping the Bucks can make it three-in-a-row for the Big Ten.
