Ohio State is once again on BOOM watch this week.

Five-star defensive tackle Bryan Bresee (Damascus, MD / Damascus) is scheduled to announce where he will be continuing his football career today at 2:45 pm est. With Ohio State being among his top six schools, how likely are they to land a commitment from one of the nation’s top talents?

Before we get into that, let’s go over what Bresee will be bringing to his school of choice.

Bresee is one of the country’s top prospects. The 247Sports Composite Rankings have him listed as the No. 1 prospect in the 2020 recruiting class. To clarify, Bresee isn’t just the top DT this year, he is the top overall prospect despite position.

There are six schools vying for his services, Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, Alabama, Georgia and the favorite, Clemson.

The 6-foot-5, 290-pounder has been compared to Ndamukong Suh and while those comparisons would be lofty for any prospect, it is more than possible Bresee can meet them.

Steve Wiltfong of 247sports.com spoke with Bresee recently regarding his top schools and the elite prospect had the following to say when speaking on Ohio State.

“Coach (Larry) Johnson is the main reason. He’s an awesome coach. Looking what he produced out of Ohio State, and the players that have been there, he is awesome. That’s my main reason to go to Ohio State.”

While this appears to be a good sign for the Buckeyes, and I’m not saying it isn’t, it appears that Clemson will be the team selected today, barring any surprises.

The 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions have Clemson listed as the favorite with 96-percent of the 26 predictions. While it must be noted that these predictions are far from guarantees, when the chances favor a certain school by this much, especially with 26 of them being submitted, the chances are very high he chooses to play for the Tigers. However, if Bresee decides Clemson is not the school for him, the only other team receiving votes is Ohio State.

It may be a long shot but a shot is all Ohio State needs. Be sure to follow his commitment today as he is going to be making his decision at his high school and the event will likely be live stream by multiple platforms.

Ohio State hosts elite 2020 safety

Keeping with the 2020 recruiting class, Ohio State is fresh off hosting one of the country’s top safety prospects.

Four-star Jordan Morant (Oradell, NJ / Bergen Catholic) announced Monday morning on Twitter that he had arrived to Columbus for an unofficial visit to Ohio State. The blue-chip prospect then followed up later in the day with his thoughts on his visit, and it appears to have gone an smoothly as possible.

Morant is one of the best at his position in this year’s class so he is hearing from a lot of the country’s top schools. Heading into his Ohio State visit, he had already taken trips to Penn State, Notre Dame and Michigan. He is also hearing from programs like Miami, Clemson, Oklahoma, USC and Tennessee.

The Buckeyes will have their work cut out for them and the current favorite to land him is Penn State. However, it appears that both Notre Dame and Ohio State are gaining ground.

Morant is viewed as the No. 8 prospect at his position in the 247Sports Composite Rankings and is the No. 112 overall prospect. However, those rankings are expected to rise as 247Sports has him listed as their No. 1 safety prospect and No. 43 overall.
