Wednesday was another busy day on the recruiting trail for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Like we’ve seen over the past weeks, offers are finding their way to prospects in the 2020 classes and beyond. While most 2021 recruits don’t have comprehensive composite grades from the litany of recruiting services online, Ryan Day and his staff know talent when they see it.
A big offer in the Lone Star State
One of those talented prospects resides in the state of Texas. A member of the 2021 recruiting class, strong-side defensive end Tunmise Adeleye (Katy, TX / Tompkins) acknowledged his Ohio State offer on Twitter.
WOW!!! after a great conversation with @CoachGMattison I am humbled and EXTREMELY blessed to receive a scholarship offer from my childhood dream school

247sports doesn’t have a composite score for Adeleye just yet, but they’ve already issued an early grade. The recruiting service has him as a four-star talent, and stacks him up as the 47th best prospect in the ‘21 recruiting cycle, the sixth best strong-side defensive end, and the seventh best recruit in Texas.
The Buckeyes are just the latest big name school to come calling; already, 25 reported offers have made their way to the 6-foot-3 defender, which includes the likes of Texas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Florida and Auburn. Since May 15, he’s picked a handful of offers, with OSU joining Washington, Tennessee and Michigan as just some of the schools interested in his services.
In the tweet, Adeleye mentioned Greg Mattison as one of the guys recruiting him. Look for Mattison to lead the way from here on out, especially if his former school (Michigan) is trying to capture Adeleye’s attention.
A busy June for Jager
Offensive guard Jager Burton (Lexington, KY / Frederick Douglas) already holds an Ohio State offer, and now it appears that the class of 2021 prospect will get an even better look at the Buckeye program, as he announced his intentions to attend an OSU camp in June.
As of now these are the camps I’m attending this summer.

June 4-6 Clemson
June 15 Ohio state
June 22 Alabama
Burton is penciled in for a one-day camp at Ohio State on June 15, the middle appointment in a jam-packed month of June. Burton is also scheduled for a multiday trip to Clemon — a school that hasn’t offered him yet — from June 4-6, and Alabama on June 22.
247sports has the 6-foot-3, 271-pound lineman as the 331st best prospect in the 2021 class, 10th best OG, and second best recruit in the Bluegrass State. Overall, the recruiting website has him as a three-star.
With 12 offers already, Ohio State isn’t the first Big Ten school on the scene for his services. Penn State and Purdue are listed as two of the offers he already has, with nearby schools Kentucky, Louisville and West Virginia in the fray, too.
Geographically, the Buckeyes are one of the closer national title contenders to Jager. But if he’s looking for a hometown or home state school, then Kentucky or Louisville are in the driver’s seat. There’s a long way left and his commitment, but it’s one to keep an eye on.
Quick hit
- Former Ohio State 2020 commit Jake Wray announced he’ll be attending Colorado on Wednesday night. Wray decommitted from the Buckeyes following Urban Meyer’s departure. His brother, Max Wray, was part of the Buckeyes’ 2018 recruiting class.
