Recruits, members of Ohio State community react to 5-star Julian Fleming’s commitment

Lots of people had reactions to the top WR in 2020 pledging to the Buckeyes.

SB Nation

Big news came out on the recruiting trail Friday morning, as the Ohio State Buckeyes picked up a verbal commitment from five-star (and the No. 1 wide receiver in the 2020 class) Julian Fleming.

The news reverberated quickly, with many other recruits, and current members of the Buckeye football team sounding off on social media.

Gee Scott Jr., a four-star OSU WR commitment from the 2020 class, said in a tweet, “time for history to be made,” tagging fellow WR commit Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

Scott Jr. and Smith-Njigba committed to the program last winter, and were the first two wideouts in the class. Now, a trio has been formed with the addition of Fleming.

Four-star 2020 safety Lejond Cavazos jumped on Twitter as well. Cavazos went simple in his tweet, writing, “BIG MOOD,” with a picture of himself, Fleming and wide receivers coach Brian Hartline.

Four-star offensive guard Luke Wypler chimed in too. His tweet mentioned the brotherhood that Ohio State has come to cultivate. Wypler is now in the same class as Fleming.

Fellow five-star recruit Kelee Ringo tweeted out #Buckeyes followed by a couple emojis. Ringo is a five-star cornerback recruit from Arizona that Ohio State is in the mix for.

2021 quarterback commit Kyle McCord, a fellow Pennsylvanian, sounded off as well. McCord said it’s “time to bring home championships,” in his tweet. An early grade by 247sports has him as a four-star prospect, and the fifth best QB in the Keystone State.

McCord wasn’t the only Pennsylvanian though. In fact, he wasn’t the only one from St. Joseph’s Prep. Wide receiver (and teammate) Marvin Harrison Jr. tweeted out a congratulations with some emojis.

Harrison Jr. is in the same class with McCord, and is also pegged as an early four-star prospect. In the state, Harrison Jr. is believed to be the No. 4 prospect.

Five-star 2021 athlete prospect Emeka Egbuka tweeted his congrats to Fleming as well.

Current and former Buckeyes had quick responses to the news too. Current wide receiver — and five-star recruit last season — Garrett Wilson chalked up the decision as a good move.

Binjimen Victor was also here for the addition of Zone 6.

And a former Buckeye great put in his thoughts. Cris Carter called Fleming the next great WR at OSU.
