Oregon vs. Auburn highlights Week 1 college football schedule

Hail, hail, the gang’s all here, as we finally have a full slate of college football after a sloppy Week 0, Pat McAfee making vaguely sexual noises on air during his ESPN Thursday night debut, and Purdon’t coughing up a lead to allow this to happen last night:

The Saturday schedule of course starts with the No. 5 Ohio State Buckeyes opening their 130th season of college football against the Fighting Lane Kiffins of Florida Atlantic on FOX.

While obviously your focus will be on The ‘Shoe during the noon ET window, you might want to keep an eye on ESPN to see how No. 24 Nebraska is doing with South Alabama. While you would expect that both the Huskers and the Buckeyes should handle their respective opponents, Nebraska is a trendy pick to upset OSU in Week 5, so it couldn’t hurt to do a bit of recon before we get to Sept. 28.

Another future Buckeye opponent that more than one pundit thinks could potentially upend the Buckeyes is the Northwestern Wildcats. They will open their season at 4:00 p.m. ET on FOX out on The Farm as they take on the No. 25 Stanford Cardinal. OSU will travel to Evanston, Ill. for a rare Friday-night game on Oct. 18, and seeing how Coach Fitz’s team does in the Brain Bowl, should give us a good indication as to how worried Buckeye fans should be for that contest.

The only ranked vs. ranked matchup of the day will take place on ABC at 7:30 p.m. ET, as the No. 11 Oregon Ducks will take on No. 16 Auburn in Texas. Should the Buckeyes end up in the Rose Bowl for the second year in a row, they very well might be matchup with the Ducks.
