¡El Assico!, Kentucky streaking against Florida, more in Saturday’s schedule

Also, Ohio State’s next opponent faces off against Ohio State’s last opponent.

NCAA Football: Iowa State at Iowa Reese Strickland-USA TODAY Sports

Another week, another noon ET kick for the No. 6 Ohio State Buckeyes. That means that after OSU takes care of business against the Indiana Hoosiers, you have the rest of the day to watch college football, so we are going to get you ready by focusing in on a handful of the day’s most interesting games.

12 noon ET Window

Pittsburgh at No. 13 Penn State | ABC

Obviously all of Buckeye Nation’s attention will be on FOX as Gus Johnson, Joel Klatt, and Jenny Taft call the game from Bloomington, Ind., but over on ABC, Ohio State’s B1G opponent the elite No. 13 Penn State will take on the rivals that they deserve, the Pittsburgh Panthers. In a rivalry game as fiery and passionate as this one, anything can happen, especially as this could be the end of the yearly series.

Miami (OH) at Cincinnati | ESPNU

Ohio State’s next opponent faces off against Ohio State’s last opponent. While you would expect the Bearcats to be significantly better than the Redhawks, it will be good to see just how wide a gap there is between the teams before the Buckeyes host Miami next week.

Afternoon Window

Stanford at No. 17 UCF | 3:30 p.m. ET | ESPN

The athletic department for the University of Central Florida has been steadfast in trying to raise the national profile of the Knights by focusing on bringing quality opponents to Orlando for home-and-home series, and today they have their wish as David Shaw brings the Stanford Cardinal to Central Florida. Following a Week 1 win over Northwestern, then a Week 2 beat down at the hands of USC, Stanford is looking to bounce back and beating the 2017 National Champions on the road would certainly do this.

However, for the UCF Knights, this is a chance to put a win against a Power 5 team on their resume in hopes of an eventual New Year’s Six bowl game.

¡El Assico! | No. 19 Iowa at Iowa State | 4:00 p.m. ET | FS1

The most important game of this — or potentially any — week, “El Assico” is the rivalry game that dwarfs all rivalry games (The Game excluded, of course). If you don’t understand why this is THE best game of the week, check this out:

Explaining ¡El Assico!, the greatest Iowa-Iowa State rivalry of all

Evening Window

No. 9 Florida at Kentucky | 7:00 p.m. ET | ESPN

The Florida Gators won 31-straight games against their SEC brethren the Kentucky Wildcats from 1987 to 2017, but last year, Mark Stoops’ UK squad broke through and ended the streak with a 27-16 win.

Both teams come into this year’s matchup at 2-0, and UF currently sits at No. 8 in SP+ with unranked Kentucky is 34th. So while the Gators are 8.5 point favorites, this should be a competitive SEC contest as the ‘Cats look to start a streak of their own.

Hawai’i at No. 23 Washington | 7:30 p.m. | Pac-12 Network

It’s almost a crime that this game is happened at 4:30 p.m. local time, because this should be a quality game that just as well could have been in the Pac-12 After Dark or the Hawai’i Really Dark Windows. However, the Huskies are clearly favored despite being 1-1 on the year. UW is a 21.5-point favorite, but anything can happen when the Rainbow Warriors come to town.
