Throughout the season, Land-Grant Holy Land will be bringing you uncut audio primarily from Ohio State press conference, but also from individual breakout sessions.
On Saturday, the No. 5 Ohio State Buckeyes obliterated the Miami-Ohio RedHawks 76-5 in a lightning-shortened game in Columbus’ Ohio Stadium. Despite the ‘Hawks racing out to an odd 5-0 lead in the first eight-plus minutes, the game was as thorough a domination as could be imagined.
In this “Uncut” episode of the Land-Grant Holy Land podcast, we hear from head coach Ryan Day, quarterback Justin Fields, and defensive coordinator Greg Mattison.
Following the game, Day discussed the victory and what can be learned from a game in which nine different players scored touchdowns. Then, the always low-key starting quarterback Justin Fields discussed his record-setting six-touchdown day. The Georgia transfer is the first FBS player in the 21st century to account for six touchdowns in a single quarter.
Finally, Mattison discussed his unit’s performance and how they went from looking confused in the first quarter to allowing only 17 total yards in the final three.
