A global pandemic might have delayed our start a little bit, but nothing is strong enough to stop us completely. Beginning Monday, Oct. 19, for the second season in a row, the Land-Grant Holy Land Podcast Network will be bringing you daily, original podcasts every day from the start of Week 1 through the end of the Ohio State Buckeyes’ football season, whenever that might be.
These shows will introduce you to a number of LGHL’s talented commentators who will provide you with unique perspectives to Ohio State football and the entirety of the sports landscape that you won’t find in any other Ohio State podcast feed.
From our flagship show expertly breaking down games and opponents to nuanced conversations with those who know the Buckeyes best to insightful chats about a variety of important issues, no one has the breadth and depth of viewpoints that the LGHL podcasts provide.
Below, check out the full list of offerings, complete with info on the shows and hosts. Throughout the season, we will be sticking to this publishing schedule as closely as possible, however, since there is a chance that FOX and the B1G might throw a weird Friday night game into the mix, and who knows what COVID testing might bring, we reserve the right to change the schedule on the fly if we need to!
Host: Matt Tamanini
Release: Monday 5:00 a.m. ET
Throughout the season, Land-Grant Holy Land will be bringing you uncut audio primarily from Ohio State press conferences. Hear the quotes and news directly from the sources. In this unusual year in which media access is unusually curtailed, take advantage of this unique opportunity to hear exactly what OSU players and coaches think about their most recent game and the upcoming opponent.
LGHL: In Conversation
Host: Matt Tamanini
Release: Tuesday 5:00 a.m. ET
On “Land-Grant Holy Land: In Conversation,” Matt will talk to people in and around Ohio State athletics, and the sporting world at large, to bring you a different insight and perspective to the teams, athletes, and university that you love.
In addition to members of the media and former players, Matt will be reconnecting with LGHL alums who have gone on to bigger and better things post Ohio State blogging.
Hangout in the Holy Land: Game Preview
Hosts: George Eisner, Gene Ross
Release: Wednesday 5:00 a.m. ET
Land-Grant Holy Land’s flagship show returns this season with two new stars. In the first of two weekly episodes, our intrepid hosts Gene Ross and George Eisner will be breaking down Ohio State’s upcoming opponent. If you followed our 2020 Virtual Season, you know that George can break down AI games, tune in to see if he can translate that to the real thing (trust me, he can).
Stick to Sports
Hosts: Tia Johnston, Matt Tamanini
Release: Thursday 5:00 a.m. ET
While sports are obviously a big part of all of our lives, on this unique show, Tia and Matt will discuss things tangential to the football season, as well topics that have absolutely nothing to do with sports. From pop culture to social media trends, the pair will get into whatever is on their minds while also sharing random thoughts about this most unusual of football seasons.
LGHL: Play Like a Girl
Hosts: Meredith Hein, Tia Johnston
Release: Friday 5:00 a.m. ET
After celebrating their one year podcasting anniversary last month, Tia and Meredith are back to discuss all things Ohio State football and basketball, while also talking to and about women in and around Ohio State athletics. They will talk about issues facing women who play sports, cover sports, work in sports, and just simply love sports as only two passionate Buckeye fans can.
Host: Matt Tamanini
Release: Saturday 5:00 a.m. ET
Every Saturday (unless a random Friday game is thrown in), Matt will bring you all of the essential information that you need to know for game day; from kick off time and what channel the game’s on to betting odds, advanced analytics, that day’s weather, a scouting report for that day’s opponent, and much more.
Hangout in the Holy Land: Game Recap
Hosts: Gene Ross, George Eisner
Release: Sometime after the game
Gene and George will be back after every game to give you their perspective on what went well — and what didn’t — for the Buckeyes. Since there is so much still up in the air about this fall’s schedule, the publication time for these episodes will vary, but they will always be ready for you to devour by Sunday morning.
Just in case you missed it up top...
After some unexpected start and stops, I am back to posting a column every single day from preseason camp until whenever Ohio State’s football season ends. Some days they will be longer and in depth, some days they will be short and sweet. Let me know what you think of this one, and what you’d like to see me discuss in the comments or on Twitter. Go Bucks!
