Chris Holtmann got the Ohio State Buckeyes’ 2022 men’s basketball recruiting class off to a BOOMing start on Wednesday night with the commitment of Cincinnati shooting guard Bowen Hardman (cool name, huh?). The 6-foot-3 Princeton High School sophomore committed to the Buckeyes, despite also holding offers from local favorites Cincinnati and Xavier.

I’m proud to be a Buckeye!

Since he still has two years of high school ball to play, the recruiting services do not yet have him rated, but he is currently considered a high-three star prospect, and is believed to eventually be one of the highest regarded in-state players from the 2022 cycle, a group of players that should be one of the best that Ohio has seen in recent memory. Hardman played for All-Ohio Red on the AAU circuit.

Not only is Hardman (again, cool ass name) the first player committed to play for the Buckeyes from the 2022 class, he is only the second player to be committed to a school in the Big Ten, following Garfield Heights sophomore Sonny Johnson Jr., who has pledged to play at Penn State.
