On LGHL’s Outside the Shoe podcast, we talk all things Ohio State athletics that happen outside the confines of the Horseshoe.
Ohio State celebrated its largest commencement in school history earlier this month, conferring nearly 13,000 degrees at a virtual ceremony. While University President Michael Drake and a small contingent of university officials were present at Ohio Stadium, the rest of the participants at the commencement, including keynote speaker and Apple CEO Tim Cook, participated virtually.
Among this group of graduates were 172 student athletes from more than 30 varsity sports programs. Among this group are NCAA and Big Ten All-Americans, conference and national champions and Ohio State scholar athletes and academic All-Americans.
While their futures on the fields, courts, rinks and tracks of Ohio State remains a question, as the NCAA and universities are still working to figure out a return to sports and what eligibility looks like for some of these graduates, we must take a moment to acknowledge their success on and off the field.
