The Ohio State Buckeyes got a big ole’ BOOM over Memorial Day weekend as four-star athlete Denzel Burke committed to play his college football in Columbus on Sunday. The No. 183 player in the country, the Scottsdale, Ariz. native is the seventh-rated athlete in the 2021 recruiting cycle according to 247Sports’ Composite Rankings.

The 6-foot, 189-pound high school junior was recruited by Kerry Coombs and Corey Dennis and while he played wide receiver in high school, is projected to be a corner for the Buckeyes. Burke also held offers from LSU, Michigan State, Oregon, USC, Texas, Tennessee, Utah, Washington, and many more.
His commitment moves OSU’s class to 19 players in the 2021 cycle, and they continue to have a commanding lead in the national rankings. Burke becomes the Buckeyes’ 15th top-200 player.
He joins corner Jakailin Johnson (No. 43), safety Andre Turrentine (No. 141), safety Jantzen Dunn (No. 205), Jaylen Johnson (No. 346), and Devonta Smith (No. 395) in the Buckeyes’ defensive backfield class of 2021. They have been connected to a number of other top-line DBs, so Coombs could theoretically land another member of his #BIA corps, but with six already committed, that could be tough.
