BOOM! Buckeyes to play Alabama in 2027-28

WE WANT BAMA! (clap, clap, clap-clap-clap)

Well, happy Thursday to you, as the Ohio State Buckeyes announced today that the football team has officially scheduled a home-and-home series with the Alabama Crimson Tide. The games will be played in 2027 (at Ohio Stadium) and 2028 in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Of course, the last time that these two storied programs faced off was in the first ever College Football Playoff semifinals in 2014, in which Ezekiel Elliott ran “80 yards through the heart of the South” en route to the Buckeyes winning the national title over Oregon.

In a statement, Ohio State Deputy Director of Athletics Diana Sabau said, “Building a non-conference schedule with tradition-rich programs is important to the competitive excellence of our program and the department, and it is great for our fans. We are excited for both schools and pleased to be able to share in this announcement today with the University of Alabama.”

This adds to an already impressive list of Power 5 series on the Buckeyes’ schedule for the next decade or so, including matchups against Oregon, Notre Dame, Washington, Texas, and Georgia.

Look, we’ve been starved for football morsels lately, since we haven’t had a proper recruiting BOOM in a while, but with yesterday learning that “fall” camp will start in about a month for the football team and now knowing that the Buckeyes have ‘Bama on the schedule — if that doesn’t get you ready for some football, I don’t know what would.
