On today’s episode, we are in conversation with Josh from College Football Nerds. We discuss Monday night’s College Football Playoff National Championship Game and how the Ohio State Buckeyes match up with the Alabama Crimson Tide. We recorded this interview right as they were releasing their second video covering the title game, and this video includes their statistical model, which we discuss in depth.

We also talk about how analytics can (or can’t) account for the weirdness of a season played during a pandemic, what can be learned from the Buckeyes’ beat down of Clemson, and where OSU could have an advantage over the Tide.

If you are unfamiliar with College Football Nerds, they put together great videos breaking down the biggest matchups every week from a statistical and analytical perspective. You can find them on the YouTube page listed below.
