As the highly-anticipated contest between Ohio State and Penn State inches closer and closer, the more names of highly-touted prospects expected on campus continue to evolve. Make no mistake, it is a major recruiting weekend for the program as the Buckeyes have an opportunity to put themselves in good standing with some of the nation’s best.

Abor “excited” for Ohio State visit

When it comes to the Buckeyes pursuit of defensive lineman for the 2022 class, one name that has to be in the conversation is five-star edge rusher Omari Abor of Duncanville (TX). The 6-foot-4, 240-pounder is a longtime target for defensive line coach Larry Johnson and Ohio State after offering him back in November of last year.

Fast forward 11 months from that offer, and the Scarlet and Gray will be welcoming Abor to campus again, but this time for an unofficial visit as he will be roaming the sidelines of Ohio Stadium this weekend. It is a visit that Abor is “excited” about, according to Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports, and it’s an opportunity for the Buckeyes to get themselves back into the forefront of the No. 24 overall prospects recruitment.

While Ohio State and Oklahoma are the lone programs to be on the receiving end of a 247Sports Crystal Ball forecast, Abor has a handful of schools that are still in the race for his services. In August, the standout Texas talent revealed that his recruitment was down to Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, Texas, and Texas A&M.

Abor took one of his five official visits to check out the Buckeyes campus in June. That means this time, the visit comes on him and his family's own dime, which shows the interest level that the blue-chipper has in the program.

Kentucky guard sets official visit

On the basketball side of things, Head Coach Chirs Holtmann and Ohio State will be hosting 2023 four-star combo guard George Washington III of Christian Academy of Louisville (KY) for an official visit this weekend.

The Louisville native is a 6-foot-2, 165-pounder that the Buckeyes offered back in June when they were able to get him on campus for an unofficial visit. Aside from Ohio State, Washington was on the receiving end of offers from programs such as Auburn, Florida State, Louisville, Purdue, Tennessee, and more.

Washington is slotted in as the No. 50 prospect overall in the 2023 recruiting class. The Buckeyes target also checks out as the No. 9 highest ranked combo guard and the second-best player that the state of Kentucky has to offer.
