Ohio State football was on the field yesterday in the midst of another practice early on this spring. Full steam ahead towards developing the team for this coming fall, the sense of normalcy from these practices have been a breath of fresh air. Seeing the content put out by Ohio State’s media team has given fans what they love to see. Whether it’s the new players or the seasoned veterans, the Buckeyes are in great shape from both a staff and player stand point yet again for this 2021 campaign.
Even during this busy time of spring practice, the staff still makes it a priority to recruit for the future classes. Yesterday was no different, as the program sent out another new offer in the 2023 class and saw good news with their 2022 targets as guys are starting to set their visit dates. Overall, it’s just still a great time to be a fan of Ohio State football.
Bucks offer another top 2023 DB
Position wise, it seems like Ohio State is recruiting in the secondary the heaviest as of late. Mainly at the cornerback spot, weekly there has been another offer going out to a top prospect, and with its track record Ohio State can market itself well with each new player its after. Since Kerry Coombs has been at the helm of the cornerback position, the development and results for his guys have been uncanny. Looking at each of the last several NFL Drafts you can see the success Ohio State is having, and that is of course paying off in major ways on the recruiting trail.
On Wednesday, the Buckeyes were once again active in the pursuit of elite level cornerback players and offered their latest target in the 2023 class. On the receiving end was AJ Harris (Phenix City, Alabama/Glenwood School), who took to his Twitter account to announce Ohio State has now entered his recruitment. Currently unranked by 247Sports due to his class status, Harris will definitely be one of the top players not only at his position, but in the country when the time comes.
With over 25 offers to his name, you can see Harris is already garnering some serious national attention from many of the best programs in college football.
God Is GREAT ALL The Time.

After A GREAT Conversation With @DB_CoachCoombs I’m VERY VERY VERY BLESSED To Receive a(n) Offer From THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY #GoBucks #BIA pic.twitter.com/LIEWGYv1i2
After seeing an LSU offer come earlier this week, Harris and his big time performance at the Under Armour camp series in Atlanta seem to have gotten the Buckeyes’ attention. Standing at 6-2, 180 pounds already with two full prep seasons still to grow and develop, Ohio State sees that long and athletic frame they covet for their corners. With the Buckeyes track record at the position, you have to like their chances for any top caliber cornerback.
Now that Harris has been offered, they can begin building their relationship which is yet another area this coaching staff excels at when it comes to recruiting and molding their future classes.
Kojo locks in official visit date
Though the Buckeyes already have two receivers in the fold for their 2022 class, Brian Hartline looks to be after one more guy to round out another incredible haul at the position. Thanks to Caleb Burton, the top-ranked receiver per 247Sports and Kyion Grayes, the 14th-best receiver in the class, Ohio State already has a duo every program would love to have, but surely the staff would love to add even more elite talent. Coach Hartline has landed two-straight classes of unbelievable talent in his short tenure at the helm of the position group, and thanks to the passing game success, the recruiting pitch is pretty set in stone. Even though the room looks pretty crowded as it is, that doesn’t rule out adding just one more.
Zeroing in on the likely candidate to be that third receiver in the class for Ohio State has been Georgia native Kojo Antwi. The eighth-best receiver in the country per 247Sports recently announced his top five schools list as he starts to narrow down his recruitment, and those programs are of course the destinations he plans to use his official visits on. If all goes as planned and the recruiting dead period is lifted, recruits all over the country will be using the month of June to hammer down some of their long-awaited visits, and the latest update concerning Antwi and Ohio State is that the official visit is now set.
Taking place on the third weekend of June (18-20), Antwi will be in Columbus to check out Ohio State for real and get a feel for where he could potentially call home for the next couple of years. A huge step that could decide the Buckeyes’ fate in this recruitment will come after Antwi also takes official visits to both Georgia and Texas A&M on the two weekends prior. Ohio State certainly isn’t hurt by having a later visit and the chance to make one last big impressions, but with Hartline doing the recruiting, the timing isn’t all that important.
This one will go down to the wire, but Ohio State is still in a great spot to land Antwi. Even if they don’t, the receiver room is in incredible shape.
Quick Hits
- 2022 four-star defensive tackle target Dominick “Nick” James took to Twitter yesterday to share that he will be in Columbus to visit the Buckeyes this coming June for a multiple day stay. Ranked as the No. 11 defensive tackle in the country, James will be one of a few visitors to campus that weekend, which looks to be growing some major momentum. Ohio State officially offered the IMG Academy product back in May 2020.
I will be in Columbus June 4-6
